whats the pointbof 10$+ lip balms?

like its the most basic thing imginable what could it possibly do to your lips that justifies the price. i get it when spfs and foundations are priced that high but i think that buying a luxury lip balm is pointless and lowkey immoral. some of my friends use rhode lip gloss and swear that it is so worth the money because it isnt sticky but i geniuenly dont get it.
