Hi guys!

I have a 3.2 month old PWD. He loves to RUN, Sprint even. If he is having a hyper time we run home after our small walks (Is like 20 seconds). We have scheduled nap times and play time. Sometimes he is extra crazy and we play tag around the house.

Today I took him out on a “jog” (medium walking pace for human) on a grassy area. It went on for maybe 3-4 mins for the full 10 min walk. 3 mins of a jog pace (where he frequently stopped to sniff then kept going), then rest, then walk, then the last 20-30 secs of him sprinting home and me trying to slow him down lol he LOVES running home. Now running is a jogging pace for me.

I am seeing conflicting views on jogging with your pup. And I want to add by NO MEANS do I expect a jogging pace for him at all. I was actually surprised he loved it for the first 3.

Anyways, the normal advice I see is 5 mins of play( physical and mental) while awake per month? Which is 15mins for him. Am I able to do a once a week “jog” (as defined above) when he gets super hyper? It isn’t always but some days he is non stop running around the house and containing him is kind of hard but doable. The issue is he gets FOMO, and man oh man this makes it hard for him to sleep. So we are teaching the off button with a positive only trainer (which is working!). I can also just stick to small walks. The issue is, every now and then he is like super charged and just sprints, and Im talking about jumps our stairs and we’ve had to block off certain areas as he does literal parkour around the house. Think your dog using you as a trampoline to bounce of you to the next place. Or using the bosu ball you have to jump on to furniture. He is crazy. And I love it lol

I love his crazy energy and it makes me energetic, but like I don’t want to push it. We will start biking soon (ie 5 min walk next to the bike and then him going in the carrier lol) . I am excited to have an energetic dog but I want to make sure I don’t fuck up his joints.

Including a pic. Mind you I am 5’2” and I think he is on the bigger side lol he is currently the biggest one of his litter.

Note: I only go at his pace. Meaning if he goes speeds up so do I, if he slows down, so do I, if he stops so do I. This is for walks or anything honestly. But obviously he is a baby that is still figuring out his off button. So I need to make sure I create it accordingly.
