The Korean government announced yesterday that it is investing trillion dollars together with companies.

1. Why are they spending such a large sum of money?

It demonstrates a determination to no longer borrow technology from others.

Currently, AI is not merely a computer program; it is the brain of a nation. However, what if Korea continues to rely solely on U.S. AI? There would be no way to refuse if the U.S. were to threaten Korea someday, saying, "We will take your data for free, and you must obey us." Since Korea is a semiconductor manufacturing nation, this is a survival strategy to avoid becoming a technologically dependent state by directly creating both the semiconductor (body) and the AI (brain) through its own power.

2. Why aren't other countries doing what Korea is doing?

It is because they cannot do so even if they wanted to.

The United States has already dominated the global AI market. The U.S. government provides massive direct subsidies to pour money into its domestic companies in order to accelerate their growth.

China's technology has been blocked because the U.S. is refusing to sell semiconductors to them. Therefore, the government is pouring money into the country and pushing forward, claiming they are holding out no matter what.

Europe has missed the opportunity to build its own AI technology. Judging that it is difficult to produce results as good as those of the U.S. or Korea even if trillions of dollars are spent now, they are employing a strategy of setting up a shield of regulations (laws) to prevent U.S. companies from acting recklessly.

3. Is Korea’s choice clever?

They have thrown a decisive gamble with no other choice.

Korea possesses a tangible weapon called "semiconductors." Semiconductors are essential for creating AI, and Korea has them. Korea had to decide whether to become a technologically dependent nation by merely imposing regulations like Europe, or to hold out to the end even if it meant isolation like China. Korea chose the most aggressive path, vowing to "seize the initiative directly, even if it means pouring money into it."

The entire world is risking its life and pouring money into the battle over "who will be the master of this AI war," and Korea is responding most strongly on that battlefield to avoid becoming a "technological colony."

The reason this massive Korean project is not bragging is because of Naver.

It independently secures data reflecting Korean language habits, culture, and trends through its search engines, Naver and Daum, without external control.

While U.S. AI models are slow to grasp the latest events in Korea or misinterpret them, Naver-based Korean AI immediately reflects the latest Korean information to provide answers.

Domestic companies directly control a massive cyclical structure consisting of 'Search Data (Input) -> AI Training -> Answer Provision -> Services (Shopping, Reservations, etc.).' Because this is possible, the idea that Korea is not merely a country that manufactures semiconductors, but a 'Sovereign AI Nation' that directly operates AI services, is a realistic possibility.
