Normal for Volvo to say everything is fine when it’s…not?
Hi everyone!
This might come across as a dumb question, but I’m curious why service at Volvo stated my car looked great last week, then another shop today claims everything does not actually look great.
I have a 2023 XC60 B6 Ultimate, absolutely adore the car. I brought it in for service to Volvo last week, just the standard yearly maintenance. Oil change, brake flush, and inspection were performed.
Over the weekend, I went to visit some family about an hour away. I hit a massive pothole which put sidewall bubbles in both the front and rear passenger side tires. I had it towed to a shop (pep boys) to get it repaired so I could drive home. I also swapped from the Pirelli Scorpion Zero’s to the Michelin Cross Climate 2’s per this subs recommendations.
Anyway, last week Volvo claimed everything looked great. Tires look great (7/32” left), brakes look great, no problems, sent me on my way.
Pep boys is saying the tires actually had 4/32” tread and my rear brakes “need attention”, which is interesting because when the tow pulled it off the truck, he told me my brakes sounded funny. Of note, pep boys says the front brakes are fine, the rear brakes are the ones that “need attention”.
I’m just confused as to how 100 miles of driving could have impacted these so much within 4 days…
I’m bringing it back to Volvo this week to make sure the suspension is alright, given the pothole was really large. I do have air suspension.
Since I’m bringing it back to Volvo for the suspension check, do I need to bring this up?? Or is this somewhat common for different shops to say different things??
At the end of the day, I just want to ensure my car is working as intended and is safe.
Thankfully, never really had to deal with much car-wise, Volvo has been great to me over the years. I can’t say the same about Pirelli (HORRIBLE tires), given I had 3 failures in 3 years but I digress.
Thanks guys!
