Multi-button inputs are broken on controller.

DISCUSSION

Right now on PS5 (and I'd guess PC controller as well but couldn't confirm), inputs that require several buttons at once feel rather clunky and a far cry from the ease of use in Smite 1. The game seems to simply not check for if multiple buttons have been pressed at the same time and this makes a lot of gods feel straight up less playable on controller depending on a person's controller layout.

Take the following button layout, basically the same as one of the Smite 1 presets:

A1: L2

A2: L1

A3: R1

A4: L1/R1

When playing on quick or instant cast in Smite 1, if you wanted to use your A4 using L1/R1 then the game would simply check if both buttons were pressed within X amount of time (say, 1 frame for example) and use the corresponding ability. If the person messed up and didn't press both buttons fast enough then it'd end up using A2 or A3 instead - fair enough.

In Smite 2 however, the single button presses seem to ALWAYS take priority over a multi-button press no matter what; the consequences of this are not being able to use your ult on certain gods unless abilities are on cooldown e.g. Ares on this setup would NEED to have his A2 on cooldown before being able to pop ult, as his A2 doesn't have any targeter and pops instantly. Same for Fenrir, Odin, Ne Zha, Thana, Chronos as of tomorrow, etc.

A slight change to the current input priority system and the checks for multi-button inputs would genuinely go such a long way to make the game comfier to play for anybody on controller who may use them, and allow for people to use the button layout comfiest for them without any drawbacks.

[I'd post this on a community board somewhere but I don't really know how, apologies]
