Unimpressed by Chanel's lambskin

I went into a Chanel boutique a few days ago, finally ready to buy a bag, or at least seriously narrow it down as I'll be traveling to Paris soon and want to buy it from there, and I felt like the lambskin on the classic flap bag wasn't as luxurious as I thought it would be. I don't know if it's just a personal thing and I'm crazy (haha) but I own several bags in lambskin from other brands (Miu Miu, Dior) and Chanel's didn't look or feel as buttery soft and it was very dull/matte. Does anyone know if there are different types of lambskin depending on the season or particular bag? They didn't have the exact bag I wanted to look at as it's sold out in the US (the new mini flap bag with the adjustable CC chain) but they had the classic mini flap. This will be my first Chanel bag and even though I've always wanted one and it's been my dream, everytime I walk into the store and actually look at the bags up close I don't feel like they're "all that" and honestly I'm kind of bummed.
