Can a cat's tongue damage non-stick cookware?

I use non-stick pots and pans (no Teflon) and when I leave them in the sick my cat Penguin immediately starts licking it clean. I know cat tongues are rough so I wanted to know if him licking the dishes damaged them (like using metal utensils or scrubbing with steel wool).
