Is it possible to play casuals with no legendaries in the current state of the game?

I'm loving the game a lot, but I'm not currently willing to pay for some of the more expensive (10+ euro) legendaries or rares, or even 15-20 in the case of Liberty, Condemn, or Constructed Lightsaber, but these kind of cards seem to be essential finishers or combo pieces in a lot of decks. I'm not planning to play in competition (the entry price of Planetaries is also out of my budget), but I do want to have fun in casual games in my area without getting absolutely wrecked every game. Am I asking for too much?
