Help a new player prepare for 1.0?

So I just started Palworld for real about a week ago, and then learned that 1.0 is around the corner. I don't really want to just stop playing the game, but I don't want to finish it either. So, I'm looking to set up my character for 1.0.

I saw that they want you to start over, so I'll just transfer my pals over to a new world and use what I've got. I was wondering however how I can prep my pals. I don't want to burn out so I'll probably stay at my current tech/base/story level, and not go too hard on breeding or condensing.

With that in mind, I'm level 38, and recently got access to coal. What would my next steps be? What useful pals can I get and transfer? Are there any good pals I'll want to have early access to? Any advice would be appreciated.
