2025 R-Line SEL POS recall

I bought a used 2025 Tiguan with 450 miles from the Volkswagen dealership at the end of January, 2026. In April, I got an alert on the dashboard saying there was an airbag error. I called the dealership and they told me there was a recall. I looked up the recall and it was originally issued by Volkswagen in December 2025, before I purchased the car.

After some back and forth with the dealership (because they had to order the replacement part) I was finally able to bring the car in. The dealership reached out to me and said they installed the part but they couldn’t get the alert to go away and they had to get in contact with a Volkswagen engineer. The engineer told them that there was an issue with the passenger seat belt and a part needed to be replaced. The outstanding issue (big issue) is that the part they need is on back order and they don’t know when it will be available. So, for the last 2 weeks my car has been in the shop. They did give me a loaner but there is a daily mileage cap, which is very inconvenient. I’m very annoyed to be going through this and feel like they sold me a car with an issue that they either knew about or should have known about.

Has anyone experienced this? Any thoughts on recourse? The dealership has been very hard to work with and are basically refusing to return my calls. TIA
