Year long lump, please tell me what do I do?

Question?

Hi everyone,

First of all, so happy to have found this thread and I hope you all are doing well.

So I’m 26, around 2020 when I was 21 I started having occasional lumps on the genital area (outside of the purse). They were like under the skin pimples almost? but much more painful. usually it would just be one that would come and eventually go away within a few days-weeks. First I was told I was just prone to cystic in growns. Long story short, about 2 years ago I was told I likely have HS. As I’m sure you all have experienced, I was told there’s nothing I could really do about it besides diet, don’t stress, exercise, don’t wear tight clothes etc. so even though I left my gyn still confused about this disease I’ve been diagnosed with, I followed those things as best as a stressed out law student could.

Fast forward, I’ve had one dime size lump for over a year now. It’s just one lump, but I’m guessing this is referred to as a flare up(please correct my language if I’m wrong). This one lump has caused me so much physical but mostly emotional pain. 1. I’ve never had a lump that just won’t go away, again this one has been here for over a year now maybe longer tbh. 2. and it’s going to get embarrassingly graphic here…a few months ago white puss like stuff comes out of it sometimes, mostly when I shower. 3. It often has an awful smell, this is the worst part to me tbh. I shower multiple times a day now it’s made me so insecure tbh, but I could be right out the shower and it still smells. It’s come to a point I don’t even hang out socially anymore because I’m scared about people smelling it.

I’ve seen 2 different gyns about it, one prescribed me an antibiotic but it didn’t do anything. She admired gyns aren’t really trained to deal with it or diagnosis it officiant and referred me to a dermatologist, which I know is who would more likely have a solution, but I’m a fresh graduate without a real job yet and state insurance who absolutely no derms and especially no derms who specialize in HS will take.

So guys, I’m here to ask for any guidance or advice my fellow HSers might have on what to do. Am I just out of luck until I get real insurance and can see a derm? Thanks in advance for any guidance!
