Venting

I just need to vent about this new pharmacy manager at the pharmacy I use. So I use a local hospital's pharmacy to fill my medications. I use to fill it at the main hospital location but they now opened a new separate pharmacy at one of the surgery centers closer to my house so I been using that one since it opened in January.

They either typically don't stock my pain medication or if they do have it they usually have a manufacturer that seems to not work as well for me so they have me call a couple days before I am getting my new script to make sure they could order it in. This past month I called on Friday May 22nd so I could fill it Monday, May 25th.

On Monday May 25th they tell me they didn't get it in but because of backorder they could try to re-order it for following day. Tuesday they didn't get it in, and I get told that only the manager can re-order it and she isn't in til Friday. If she orders it on Friday then it wouldn't be in til Monday after noon.

"Luckily", I had been in the hospital for a couple days so I had some extra meds that if I really stretched it I could get to Monday. I called around to a bunch of other local pharmacies looking for it with no luck.Monday morning my doctor's office calls me to check on me since I had been in hospital and asked if I needed help with anything. I said "Well as of now I don't but I still haven't filled my pain medication from last week as no pharmacy has in stock. They said they will have it this afternoon but if they don't get it I don't know what to do." Nurse said she would tell the Dr and also said "Maybe if there is a problem he can call in a lower dose and say to take 2 pills to equal your for a couple days while they get it in stock." I say yeah that is a smart idea if it ends up being a problem.

2 hours later, I get a call from the pharmacy saying it didn't come in. Now I am in panic mode, I decided to start calling pharmacies again and decide to start with the main hospital pharmacy. They put me on hold and say they just got some in stock, they say they call pull the script from it's sister location and I can come get it.

My father and I drive 30 minutes to hospital to pick it up and then stopped at my normal pharmacy on way home to pick up other scripts. I get an email from my doctor staying he called in the smaller dose for 10 days and I could fill that first if it was easier for pharmacy. Father went in but I was on phone, i tell him about the email I just got and tell him to make sure he doesn't pick up the smaller script.

He goes in and said my name. Pharmacist says "I just told him an hour ago I didn't have the pain meds in stock." My father responded with, " No, I am here for his other meds were on our way home from MAIN HOSPITAL from picking that up(meaning the pain meds she brought up)". He left, 2 more times through the month we went and picked up other meds while it still showed the lower dose pain meds available for pick up.

I decide to call in on Friday since this Thursday I go back to my Dr and get refill so I wanted to make sure it was ordered ahead of time. Pharmacy Tech comes back and says they can't order medication ahead of time. I say they have done it for me for the last 6 months, she puts me on hold. Pharmacist gets on phone and says she won't be doing it for me until the script is there because "you played games last month and had 2 medication doses sent in". I explain to her what happened and how obvious it was that it was a smaller script to try to get me meds til she could get the other in and how I never tried to fill the small one which is obvious by the 3-4 trips to pick up other medications. She kind of said that she might order it ahead of time. Today I go into pick up other medication she is there so I try to be the bigger person an apologize even though I shouldn't have to and mid sentence she walked away from me and into the back room
