Route Kawaguchiko to Matsumoto

I'm first time travel to Japan. Do I need to buy ticket at counter if I want to take local bus from kawaguchiko to kofu station and then take Chuo line train to matsumoto. Or can I pay with suica or credit card?

Has anyone used this route before? Could you share your experience here? Is it doable?
