No desire for a relationship:Post breakup
I've (27M) been with my ex (24F) for 6 years and was mostly a long distance but saw her for 4 days every month. I really loved her and did my best to be there for her. But there were patterns that really broke me over the years. She would never initiate a conversation and I only had to do it. Whenever we went out for dates, she'd almost always be in a sombre mood or seem not to be interested. At times she'd walk away whenever we tried to solve issues. I had to do a lot of convincing on the date for the mood to change and enjoy our quality time. This really broke me. I kept asking what she desired and how I can be there for her more. Most times she went quiet and said nothing. Like I was only putting more effort to her favorite but receiving nothing. Not even my desires (not even sexual) that I constantly brought up.
Over the 5 years, she's really been sweet and loving but it would only last so long. She'd ask to leave the relationship literally every month. This made me beg her to stay and proof my love for her. Chased for affection and love and this drained me a lot. I felt like I was in a cage trying to do everything for her but my needs especially emotionally weren't being met. I literally asked her to stay every time and tried to fix the situation. Never once did she initiate the fixing. Over the years, the trauma of her leaving became real and I had the fear of being vulnerable to her. Often times I'd open up only for her to ask to leave the next week, breaking the trust. Over time, I stopped desiring her as the woman I wanted to settle with yet deeply loved her. I still found it hard to just love myself and my dignity and leave. I wish I left sooner.
Now she said she doesn't have the joy of the relationship anymore and asked to leave just before my birthday. I didn't stop her this time and now she has already moved on to another guy and all happy. We broke up 20 days ago and we've been in no contact. I blocked her for my peace of mind. This really broke me but I'm choosing to love myself and grow. I'm actually enjoying the peace, solitude and overcoming the scarcity mindset that she was the only one for me. I also made the most money on a monthly just after the breakup and have had lots of growth in terms of finding myself again. Nothing feels impossible and I just wanna be so great for myself and my future family. I'm so addicted to becoming better and completely changed my mindset, that I'll actually get one who'll love me and be willing to build a future together. However, I don't have the desire for a relationship. Not anytime soon. The solitude has made me loathe the relationship hurt so bad and not see any need for one.
Guys, does it actually get better? Some nights it's really hard but I always resist breaking the no contact.
