I can’t have a normal conversation

i’m about to enter high school, and throughout all of middle school, I don’t think I’ve ever had a conversation where I didn’t try to be funny. I always use this corny funny type of humor and people always thought I was serious. now that I’m entering ninth grade I’ve realized that I can’t have a normal conversation with someone who isn’t a friend of mine without being weird or trying to be funny. I see other kids talking amongst themselves and wonder how they do it. any tips for how to have a normal conversation?
