drove my carvana car for 3 weeks and it’s been in the shop now for almost 2 months
i purchased a 2017 ioniq from carvana back at the end of april and upon receiving the car, it was everything i was hoping!! it was wonderful! i took it to get inspected within the 7 day window, and the shop said it was in phenomenal condition.
couple weeks later, i’m leaving work, and the engine stalls. get it taken straight to a dealership, and seeing as this is a thursday, i don’t hear from them basically until monday. that week they find that what caused the engine to stall was the oil filter had been put on incorrectly the last time the car was serviced (so before i received it), causing oil to leak into the engine for god knows how long before and while i had it. they have had to replace the entire engine.
silver lining was supposed to be that i would be getting my car back with almost 20k less miles than it had on it before due to the new used engine had less miles, but that’s where the silver lining ends, because i don’t know if i ever will see this car again at this point.
today i get word from the dealership that now after the new engine install and road testing, they’ve found an issue with the engines communication to the hybrid battery, and possibly and issue with the battery all together.
the dealership says give them another day or 2 to figure out a solution, which based on their lackluster communication through this entire process, probably means another week unless i blow their phones up all day tomorrow and the next day.
and silver rock is no help. they’re completely unwilling to push the limit for rental reimbursement for me despite the circumstances.
on top of this, the entire reason i needed a new car to begin with was because some uninsured ahole decided to drive like a madman and total my previous car, leaving me not only carless, but also physically unable to drive because i broke my wrist. this car was supposed to be my knight in shining armor!! but instead i’ve been a physical burden on my parents for months on end now since march, and their patience is very quickly wearing thin. i can’t afford to uber and lyft everywhere, can’t afford a rental, and i work 30 minutes from where i live in the opposite direction of where their each work.
i genuinely have no words for how frustrated i am. even getting the car back at this point wont relieve how utterly freaking pissed i am. this is all because of carvana’s negligence in either them serving the car or them inspecting the car before it left to me. i just genuinely want ANYTHING to drive at this point and idk what to do. i can’t go much longer without a car. idk how ive gone THIS long without one. i’m never buying a car from them again and i should have heeded the warnings people gave me.
