My gears are slipping. what’s the cause, and how to fix?

My MTB started having an issue recently where my first gear slips under heavy pressure when climbing and my last gear clicks and slips when peddling on it.

Also if I peddle backwards my entire chain slips.

Otherwise all other gears work fine. What’s the cause and how can I fix?
