Need some advice in academy

Hey Guys,

Today was my first day at the academy. Overall I liked it and feel it won’t be too difficult as long as I follow directions and am willing to learn.

But I’m having some trouble adjusting. For instance, I moved states so I’m about 2.5 hours from my family now. On top of that, our class got hit with mandatory overtime on the 4th of July. Usually we have Saturday and Sundays off.

My question is: does it get better as time passes? I live alone now and it’s really difficult to pass the time. And generally, is academy easier or more difficult than being on the job? For reference, my departments has 4 on 3 off patrol shifts.
