PKMS in Apple tools (Notes & iCloud Drive) feedback

I’m new to PKM and am exploring a shared family knowledge base (PKMS) built entirely on Apple tools and would love feedback from anyone who has tried something similar.
My goal is a shared repository for household information, family plans, important documents, kids’ activities, home projects, travel plans, and general family knowledge. The current concept is:

Shared folder in iCloud Drive as archive
Apple Notes as the primary front-end for capture and navigation
Shared access between spouses using separate Apple IDs
Simple enough that a non-technical partner will actually use it
Long-term ownership without relying on a third-party PKMS platform
I’m particularly interested in hearing from people who:
Successfully run a family knowledge base
Tried this approach and abandoned it
Chose a different architecture (Obsidian, Notion, OneNote, etc.)
Ran into synchronization, permissions, search, or usability issues
What worked? What failed? What would you do differently if you were starting from scratch today?
