**The Weeping Clown**
Before everyone began calling her **The Weeping Clown**, she was just a little girl named **Ophelia**.
She was born and raised in a traveling circus run by her parents. To her, the big top was home: the scent of sawdust, the colorful lights, and the audience’s applause were all she had ever known.
Among all the performers, there was one she loved more than anyone else.
**Ren, the clown.**
While the others were always too busy to pay her much attention, Ren always found time for her. He taught her little tricks, made her laugh whenever her parents fought, and told her that one day she would become a clown even better than he was.
Ophelia admired him more than anyone.
Her parents, however, were slowly changing.
The circus was falling into financial ruin, and her father grew more violent with each passing day. He shouted at everyone, drank heavily, and often took his anger out on his family. Even when business was good, he wasn’t much different. Money, debts, and constant stress only made him even more abusive.
Whenever she was afraid, Ophelia would run to Ren.
He was the only place where she felt safe.
One evening, just before another performance, Ren called her over.
He took off his old clown hat and gently placed it on her head.
*“Keep it, Ophelia. It suits you better than it ever suited me.”*
She smiled.
It would be the last time.
That night, the circus tent caught fire.
The audience fled in panic as the flames devoured everything around them.
Ophelia desperately searched for her mother, but she had already been consumed by the fire.
Ren managed to reach the exit with Ophelia and her father.
They were only a few steps away from safety.
Then her father shoved Ren back into the flames.
The clown tried to get back on his feet, but the circus tent collapsed on top of him.
Ophelia screamed his name.
She never saw him again.
For years, she believed it had all been a tragic accident.
Only much later did she discover the truth.
The fire had never been accidental.
Her father had started it to destroy every piece of evidence of his crimes. He had sexually assaulted one of the circus dancers, and she was ready to report him. Ren knew the truth and had decided to testify against him.
That was why he had to die.
After that night, Ophelia fell into a deep depression.
Her father drank more than ever.
Whenever he saw Ren’s hat or the clown makeup on his daughter’s face, he flew into a rage.
He said it reminded him of the past.
He said he should have let her die too.
The beatings became more frequent.
One evening, after yet another brutal assault, something inside Ophelia finally broke.
When her father passed out drunk, she picked up a knife.
Slowly, she carved a smile across his face, identical to that of a clown.
Then she dragged his body into an old abandoned circus tent.
She set it on fire.
And stood there without moving, watching the flames.
The same flames that had taken her mother away years before.
The same flames that had killed Ren.
From that night on, Ophelia vanished.
No trace of her was ever found.
The only thing people claim to have seen is a young woman wearing an old clown hat, a single painted tear running down one side of her face, and a disturbing smile painted across the other.
The tear is not part of the makeup.
It is the grief she has never stopped carrying.

**The Legend**
They say there is an old circus, now reduced to ashes, hidden far away from any city.
Anyone who enters it alone may hear an impossible sound.
Applause.
Slow.
Steady.
As though someone were watching an invisible performance.
If you turn around and see a girl dressed as a clown with a painted tear on her face…
you can still run.
But if, as you look at her, that tear is joined by a smile…
it’s already too late.
No one knows what happens next.
Anyone who has ever seen **The Weeping Clown** smile has never returned to tell the tale.
