AITAH for an offensive Reddit post
So I already know I’m the asshole but I just wanna know what people say. So I saw on an artists instagram a really cool photo, the lighting and the background of the room were so cool. So I went to the artists subreddit to post about it bc I thought it was cool.
The text in my post was “Is this her house or like a studio or something” “This place looks really cool is it her house or like a studio or something else” Now the reason I said house was because I thought it looked really cool and I wanted to post a compliment like “this house is so cool” or something like that. I thought it was a really cool place and she has good taste for going there.
But before I posted it I thought “house” might seem a creepy so I added “or a studio” and clarified my intent “this place looks really cool” so it would be less creepy and less offensive and more like a genuine fan post complimenting a place I thought was cool.
Well that wasn’t enough because people still replied calling me a creep and a stalker. I made replies where I explained my intent and apologized for offending anyone, then I made an apology post reading \*Apology for the insensitive post. I want to apologize for the "is this her house" post that I made. MY only intention with that post was to make a compliemnt. I asked "Is this her house or like a studio" so that I could say "thats a cool house, or thats a cool studio." I posted that because I liked the way the photo and the place looked and I wanted to compliment it. I did not mean to sound like I anted to visit her or come off as a creep or offend her or anyone else. I apologize to (name) and the community for the insentive post. I did not mean to offend or be rude to or creep out anyone. At the time I didn't even think of that meaning and going to her house was nowhere in my mind. Sorry guys. I'll delete the post and I hope I didnt cause any harm.\* Spelling mistakes because I had to leave right at the moment I was writing it.
This is like a super serious situation because I try to be feminist and support women but now all that’s ruined. But I used to also say I can’t call myself a feminist because what if I don’t do enough or what if I do something bad and look I was right.
But I get that it’s offensive because women unfairly face stalking and harassment and it seemed like I support that. And now I’ve become the very thing I hate: a misogynist and an enemy to an artist and a fan base that I think stands on business against horrible people. This artist actually had a recent beef where someone was misogyny to her so it’s even worse.
Anyways what do you guys think.
