Should I stay friends with them?

Hey Reddit, I'm a 21 year old guy and I want to hear your opinion on something that's been bothering me. English is not my first language so sorry for any grammar mistakes.

It started on an evening where I went out drinking with two friends, people I've known for years. One of them I consider my best friend (friend 1), the other is friend 2.

After a fun evening we walked to the bike parking to grab our bikes, but then we noticed that the electric scooter of friend 2 had been stolen. We decided to look around together to see if we could find the scooter or the thief.

After searching for a bit I spotted someone riding the scooter. I walked up to them and tried to get it back. I started yelling, my friends came over, but the friends of the thief showed up too. Words were exchanged and things escalated quickly.

Friend 2, whose scooter was stolen, is a big and clearly strong guy. But because I was the loudest one, I became the target of the thief and his friends.

The thief tried to punch me and missed. But the moment I looked away because one of his friends was moving behind me, the thief managed to hit me anyway. Right in my eye. I tried to defend myself but then I also got hit from behind. Three of them were going at me at once.

I fought back as best as I could but every time I focused on one person I got hit from another direction.

And then afterwards I realized what my friends were doing during all of this.

Friend 1, my best friend, was standing 20 meters away. Just watching and talking on his phone. He did nothing.

Friend 2, the big guy whose scooter it was, tried to separate people but never threw a single punch. He could have easily taken on one of the three guys so I would only have to deal with two instead of three. But he didn't.

I lost the fight. My body is in pain. But what hurts a lot more is this: the two people I have known the longest and trusted the most left me on my own when it really mattered.

My question to you guys: should I stay friends with them?
