Chicagoland Speedway's slightly curved backstretch.

Unlike other oval tracks, Chicagoland's backstretch isn't a typical one, and I wonder if it creates that much additional challenge to the driver. I also wonder what's the history of adding this weird little quirk. Was there more to it or they simply added it to make it stand out?
