How to resolve JuiceBox 40 --> VoltiE recent issues

Hope this helps someone who ends up in a similar position.

Background -- I have a 2024 Hyndaui Ioniq 5 after my 2022 Hyndaui Ioniq 5 was totaled in the California fires of 2025.

My JuiceBox 40 was purchased in 2022 and through the Enel X Way closure and transition to VoltiE it had worked as intended. I even did the firmware transition to VoltiE and was using their app -- well, I basically used the Hyundai app for charging, but I could see my JuiceBox on the VoltiE app.

A couple weeks (months?) ago, VoltiE changed their app and I downloaded it. It's very bare bones.

Anyway, yesterday I go to charge my car and I plug in the charger and nothing. No click, no "charging started", nothing.

The app originally said the charger was connected BUT that the car has stopped the charging.

I disconnected the charger and rebooted it (cut the breakers).

Now I noticed the JuiceBox has the purple light (no wifi connected) and would start to charge my car. HOWEVER, it was only charge at 1.4 kwH and not it's usual 9.3ish.

The app was now saying my charger was offline.

I took the car to a public charger as well as a friend's who has a JuiceBox (set on dummy mode) and both worked fine.

I cleaned the connector and still, crappy charge.

I rebooted the charger again (multiple times), connected my laptop to the Wifi signal (the whole setup.com trick) and at least got the charger to connect to the wifi network again. But still, 1.4 charge. And the app was still saying "offline".

So I wrote a long email to VoltiE service (i recommend clicking on the help link in the app or website as it created a ticket number) explaining everything and included screenshots from the app as well as screenshots from the setup.com console tabs.

This morning the app was reading back online, but still had a low charge.

It should be mentioned that I had a sneaky suspicion that this was a fault on VoltiE's end because my charge (1.4 compared to 9.3) is the same ratio as the minimum to maximum amp setting on the charger (6A to 40A).

It was confirmed when I got an email back from VoltiE -- to be fair, their customer service was quick and useful -- that they "updated the charger limit to 40A" and now everything works perfectly again.

so TL;DR, if you are suddenly experience slow charge speeds on your JuiceBox 40 and you had previously done the transition to VoltiE, it's probably a firmware/software update on their end that doesn't play well with the JuiceBox which sets the charger to it's minimum amp limit. You have to contact costumer service and send them pictures of your app settings with charger name and number -- specifically the 28-digit Charger ID (starting with 08 or 09) from the side label of the charger if you are registered. I would assume you would have to get your charger back online first, and there's plenty of links and tutorials in this forum on how to do that already.
