I'm not being spoon-fed progression!

I naively went into a few early cut scenes thinking "I can access this from the Grove, it's going to be suitable for a level 2 party" and got wiped. Especially not being careful when the game suggests "listen to the song", the game is a massive troll. That's pretty funny, and also refreshing, actions have consequence. (I don't think this post has spoilers, but where is the "Game design" tag?)
