why use Postman in automation when we could just wrap http client?
To the moderation team: my previous post has been deleted without any explanation. I'm fine with it, but i need an explanation :). Cheers
I’ve been thinking about this a lot and wanted to get some views or thoughts from other people.
When we test REST APIs, the standard go-to for a lot of teams is Postman, Bruno, rest assured or some other specialized tool.
Why don't we just test it the way it’s actually going to be used? Write a program, a client, wrap it for ease of use, bundle it with some testing framework as pytest or nunit and we are good to go.
Instead of keeping massive collections, we can have just code.
This scales better if a team or project grows and we have clean code instead of jsons.
Am I missing some killer feature of these tools that makes them worth the overhead?
I could understand using it for "manual testing" but no API is going to be used manually, so manual api testing as such doesn't make sense
