Connection's Terrible for the First Game

Why is it, that once a year, my first game I load up refuses to connect to the servers for three or four rounds. I accidentally loaded up ranked for my first game again like I did yesterday and my first game of the day today and yesterday keeps kicking me and giving me completely unplayable ping. How in the world does this sort of thing keep happening in year 11?
