The True Nature of From: How It All Began and Why Everything Is Connected

Paragraph and pictures go In the same order so check them to make everything easier to understand.

---First of all, this entire theory came from one simple clue: the truth about water in From. Water is at the heart of everything happening in this world. The show has dropped countless hints about its importance and how it's connected to nearly every mystery.

---The first thing that caught my attention was the appearance of the monsters. They look amphibious, resembling deep-sea creatures that thrive in darkness, caves, and underground environments while avoiding sunlight. Just like those creatures, the monsters live in caves with water and only come out at night. That got me thinking: why were they designed this way? My answer is simple they reflect their true origin. Whatever gave them their power shared those same traits. It was a creature from the sea.

---That leads to a much darker idea. The giant creature in the cave paintings. In my opinion, those paintings are basically a summary of the entire story of From how it began and how it will ultimately end. Right in the middle of all the chaos is this enormous red creature that looks like either a giant octopus or the legendary Kraken. Do you really think it's a coincidence that everything in this show keeps pointing back to water and the sea? I don't. They're all pointing back to the same origin.

---Another interesting detail is Camden, the town where the original Bottle Tree (Victor's Bottle Tree) is located. It's also where Miranda first started having her visions, and it's a coastal town with a major harbor, something we briefly see when Tabitha returns to the real world. In the cave paintings, we also see people traveling by boat before crashing into a tree. Yes the very same tree.

---The fallen tree that traps people today as they drive into town may simply be the modern version of what happened centuries ago. Now let's talk about the boats. In the past, people traveled by sea to explore the unknown, and that fits perfectly with the era when settlers were crossing the Atlantic to discover the New World. That could explain why this curse exists only in America.

---There are also some striking parallels with Lovecraft's mythology. Cthulhu commands an army of creatures known as the Deep Ones beings that are half human and half fish, matching the appearance of the monsters in From in a surprisingly accurate way. Even more interesting, the same mythos includes Hastur, the King in Yellow, whose power revolves around corrupting human minds and spreading madness.

---But the importance of water doesn't stop there. Think about the lighthouse. Does it really make sense for a lighthouse to stand in the middle of a forest with no ocean nearby? And why is it the only place from which someone has successfully returned to the real world? I think it has been serving its true purpose all along: guiding the lost back to their original world. This is where I think all of these pieces will eventually come together.

---The flood. I believe the fate of the world of From is to be swallowed by water. If the characters are ever going to escape this nightmare, then the flood will be the final obstacle they have to overcome. That's when the lighthouse will become essential. The show has already hinted several times that floods may have happened during previous cycles, but those cycles always ended with everyone dying. This time, however, the survivors will have something previous generations never did: boats.

---That's when the boats will become the key to escaping From. Just as people originally became trapped after arriving by boat, they may finally escape by leaving in boats as well. Throughout the series, songs playing in the diner repeatedly mention that "we'll need boats." Even Boyd's missing boat in the photo of his house feels like deliberate foreshadowing. And this is where the giant spider comes into the picture.

---If the Sea of Tears becomes the path to freedom after the flood, then the giant spider will be the final obstacle standing between the survivors and their escape. I believe that spider is also the Yellow Man. We even saw a possible hint of this in the previous episode, where his completely black eyes resembled those of a spider. I think the cave paintings have been foreshadowing all of this through their use of color.

---Notice that the cave paintings use three main colors, with each representing a different side. Red represents evil: Cthulhu, the monsters, and the lighthouse, where everything first began in the original world. Black represents the clues and tools that prove this place exists: the fallen tree, the root symbol representing hope, and the sacrificial stones. Finally, white represents the forces of good: the humans trapped in this place, the birds living in the forest, and the infinity symbol representing the endless cycles. I believe the story of From began with a curse that rose from the sea, and it will end with the survivors escaping across the sea by boat, finally reaching land where Cthulhu's influence can no longer reach them. The only question is: how will they pull it off?
