OnSite - SQV, SIV and RMV

What is with the strong push for onsite visits?

My institution rolls out the red-carpet for all of these visits to be conducted remotely. And when I say this, I mean we have videos and provide photos of any area a sponsor or CRO | CRA could possibly want to see, but we continue to be strong armed to hosting onsite visits.

We use Florence and all of the bells | whistles within EPIC to give them access to whatever they need.

Q: What am I missing? Please help this make sense.

In the world of "research is expense," why do they want to spend the finances to conduct onsite visits?
