Astrill VPN had a poor user experience on macOS.also a terrible experience for me
Last week I was looking for a new VPN provider, so Astrill naturally became one of my options.(base their ads)
As a macOS user based in Asia. Here are the issues that occurred：
- Can't Open App / UI display problem (resolved): It does not support extended displays on macOS,I spent over FOUR hours dealing with this bug, including upgrading my macOS system.
- Failure to create a proxy service on local ports (unfixed): It cannot listen on ports like localhost:7890.
- No support for domain-based filtering rules (unfixed): There is no option to set rules based on domains or domain suffixes.
- Conflict with Tailscale (unfixed): None of the three proxy modes work. Tailscale connects successfully only after I close Astrill entirely.
This single issue alone has made me decide to cancel my subscription. I own multiple devices and need to set up a local area network across two separate locations. （For reference, neither shadow Rocket nor Clash interfered with Tailscale connections in the past.）
I’ve spent more than 10 hours troubleshooting network issues from last Thursday until today. What’s worse, their refund policy makes it nearly impossible to get my money back.
This is a terrible experience.
I will not recommend their service to anyone.
