How do I become an L&D nurse?
First, a little bit of backstory. I'm fifteen, and trying to start figuring out what I want to do with my future. I want to be successful, and make actual liveable wages. Im not expecting to make millions, nor do I WANT to. I'd like to be able to own a home, and not just survive. I want to LIVE. I'm willing and ready to put in the work for it.
My first choice was astronomy. Ive always been interested in it, and I really enjoy it. But unfortunately, I live in Kentucky, and there aren't many opportunities near me thats not teaching. Then I was thinking about something related to science, or maybe being a psychologist/psychiatrist. Again, there's not many opportunities near me thats offer decent paying positions like that.
Now, I'm thinking about becoming a Labor and Delivery nurse. Theres a pretty big hospital near me that I could work at, its in Lexington so it's only about 30 minutes away (UK Hospital) But, I have a few questions.
How long do I have to go to a college/university? What exactly would I need to major in? How bad is the debt you go into from taking those classes?
What do you do as an L&D nurse?
Is the salary when you just start off decent?
Are your hours assigned to you or do you get to choose the days and hours you work?
Obviously, since I'm only 15 and have never had a real job before or gone to college, I don't know if any of these questions are something with a simple answer, or something I could've just googled. I do prefer getting answers from humans who have actually had experience, though, instead of some AI trying to tell me something thats completely wrong.
(Also, sorry if I didn't tag/flair this post right. I didnt know which one to pick, but I'm asking for advice so I just put that.)
