Girl said she wants a second date and when I offer it, there’s no initiation on her part.

Specific situation

Took a girl (we’re both 26) on a great first date. During the date she said “once I get settled into summer break, we should get together again.” I didn’t even ask about a second date and she said that, which sounds great to me. She also sent me a thank you text afterwards saying, “Thanks again ____! That was one of the most unique experiences I’ve ever had. I had fun!” Both of those things made me feel good.

It has been a little over a month now since that date. I have asked her out once a week for the first 3 weeks.

Invite 1 - was to play basketball. We met while I was playing basketball and she told me to invite her the next time I play, so I invited her to play a casual shooting game that would be easy for us to talk to each other and be competitive. Only issue is I invited her on the same day I planned it for. I got a soft rejection with a legitimate excuse for why she was busy. It also said, “thanks for the invite though! As always let me know when you go, and if I’m free I’d definitely come.” Great right? I waited a few days to invite her again, but this time with more notice. The next invite got ghosted.

Invite 2 - Started thinking maybe she wants a date with more effort, so I found a nice restaurant and invited her to it. She responded saying she never heard of the place, she was busy that day, and asked what type of food the place had. I answered her question and said if that sounds interesting or if you’d rather go someplace else, let me know what day next week you’re free. No response from her after that.

Invite 3 - I invited her to go kayaking with like 5 days notice. She said, “Hey _____! Sorry I am getting back to you late here. Somehow it seems I’m busier now in the summer when I do not work than when I’m working during the school year with 8 hour days haha. My week and weekend is pretty busy I have plans Thursday through Sunday. Kayaking sounds so fun but I’m actually golfing with my dad and brother Friday at 2 we are leaving at 1 it’s a course in ______ not sure if we’d be done by then? So glad to hear you are clearing for more activities! How is it feeling? I responded saying “no worries, wrist is good, have fun golfing.” I chose to not text again and wait for her to reach out. It’s now been two weeks since then with no communication.

Another important detail to all of this is our texting behaviors. I hate getting to know people through text so often times my replies are short. She is a slow texter but her texts are always long paragraphs and very engaging, but it takes her anywhere between 1-4 days to respond.

What I can’t figure out is if she is interested, but still isn’t “settled in” or if I should take the hint of her not offering another day she’s available and move on
