2012 750Li N63 seized, spun rod bearings
I have a 2012 N63 from a 750Li that otherwise is in great shape. I pulled the motor and after pulling the oil pan and oil pump and rod caps found 4 spun bearings ( connecting rod ). The crankshaft bearings look ok. It's connecting rod for 2,7 and 4,5 that spun. The bearin on 2 is heat fused to the end caps leaving bearing material ( copper colored ) on the crankshaft.
I looked online and saw the great many posts about how cheap reman engines are then when I went to actually attempt to buy them was told no it's 23k + core ( BMWPartsOnline ) and calling a dealer 27k ( Chico, CA ).
If there ever was some way to get these for 5k that appears to have dried up. I mean the actual BMW ones not some eBay unknown ones.
I got the car for only 4k so investing in this engine either a reman or rebuilding this one is on the. t able. Just not for 23-27k.
The car/engine has 80k miles. So far that seems to be the only issues. In getting the engine out I and getting the oil pan off and access to the crankshaft I saw no other signs of damage. I did a borescope on the top end and they look great. I'm just at the point where remanufactures sounds attractive but actually getting a BMW one for a reasonable price is seemingly impossible.
I don't trust eBay I need a reputable shop or dealer or someone who will guarantee it is what they say it is. The core I'd be exchanging is otherwise good. I can share photos of the work so far.
Thank you in advance.
