Taylor Sheridan has to be one of the more fascinating screenwriters to me. Sicario, Hell or High Water, and Wind River are legitimately some of the best scripts of the 2010s. Then he writes slop like Yellow Stone and Landman and it's hard to believe it's the same guy.
He's written other great material on TV as well. I think Mayor of Kingstown is a really spectacular show, but man with Landman and the YellowStone shows his personal politics are so heavy handed in them that it hurts his natural talent for creating good complex characters within complex plots. I still think the guy has talent, but his filmography grows stranger and stranger with the more TV shows he produces.
