One year na since Nancy Binay became mayor of Makati.

Honestly, as a resident, ang feeling ko hindi improvement. Mas rollback.

Dati, Makati felt like a city with systems. Hindi perfect, pero mas organized. Benefits felt more predictable. Healthcare felt more secure. Assistance felt more structured. City services felt more modern.

Ngayon, parang ang daming bumalik sa mano-mano era.

Benefits and ayuda feel more confusing. Bigas distribution has unclear mechanics. Some people feel you need barangay connections or coordinator networks just to be properly informed. Senior services feel heavier. Yellow Card and healthcare access feel shakier because of OsMak, Makati Life, free meds, labs, and coverage issues. Jollijeep prices feel less masa-friendly. Safety also feels like a concern again, with more stories about snatching, dark streets, weak patrols, and broken CCTVs. Even school bags became an issue because people feel standards declined.

Ang weird kasi Makati has money, manpower, and existing systems. This is not a poor city trying to survive. This is one of the richest LGUs in the country. So when services become more confusing, more manual, and more politicized, mas nakakainis.

Giveaways are not governance. Photo ops are not innovation. Distribution day is not the same as sustainable public service.

Abby’s team was not perfect, but the city felt more systems-oriented. Under Nancy, Makati feels busy but not effective, visible but not strategic, active but not resident-centered.

My honest rating so far: 4/10.

May ginagawa, yes. Pero kung resident experience ang basehan, ang daming sablay.

Curious ako: how would you rate Nancy’s first year as Makati mayor?

1 year na si Nancy Binay as Makati mayor. Honest rating: 4/10, generous na yan.
