Every Brilliant Booklist, Update #6: Mariska's Final Week/Welcoming Tracee!

Memes and fun stuff

It's your friendly EBT Librarian popping in again for the latest update on the ongoing booklist project, heading into Mariska's last 8 shows and our final Broadway Narrator w/ Tracee.

From what I've seen on the spreadsheet from the books picked throughout Mariska's run so far, it's not surprising that a good amount of her picks are crime/mystery novels and some pulp fiction.

Compared w/ Dan, whose picks came in approximately three different categories:

  1. Fantasy and/or young adult fiction (excluding the obvious).
  2. Books that have been either adapted or will be adapted to films/TV series.
  3. Cats.

Lately (and admittedly), I have slipped a bit from tracking the books pulled due to the Knicks- b/c I, too, am a New Yorker caught up in the madness- and thus, am missing a whole load of entries from the past two weeks. (A Jalen Brunson bio happened to be one of those pulled books, so I'm glad to see the show work its magic and be flexible in the most opportune times.)

I do want to take this time to say that this booklist will be ending when EBT plays its final B'way performance w/ Tracee on August 9th. Which means there are under 100 books remaining to be pulled from New York audiences before it heads out on tour next year. There will be one or two updates following this, but after August 9th, I'll write up a summary post of all three B'way Narrators' collections.

A few housekeeping stuff for anyone needing to plug in their books from their performances or are going to see the show:

  • The spreadsheet can be toggled between all three Narrators; it currently opens to Mariska's, but will default to Tracee's on July 7th.
  • The library scene is approximately halfway into the show, so keep your ears and eyes out on the two books pulled and make a note of them. If you can't remember/hear/see exact titles and/or authors, try to take note of the cover design/color/etc- any detail is helpful in getting the exact book down!
  • (NEW!) If your Narrator happens to pull a student/academic textbook as one of the books, I no longer need the exact title. Just the subject/topic (ie. psychology, film studies, etc.) will suffice.

The specifics:

  • Apparently, Mariska pulled a Potter book this week, but person who entered it didn't know which one. If you were at that show, which one was it?
  • If there is someone here who went to the March 6th performance w/ Dan, can anyone still remember which Percy Jackson book was pulled? I have the first (Lightning Thief) listed, but unsure if that was the exact one. This is important for a reason.
  • Also looking for the second book pulled on April 17th! Also for important reasons!
  • Finally, if there is anyone going to either Mariska's last show this Sunday or Tracee's first show next Tuesday, I need y'all to pay really close attention to the books pulled. This is of interest to see what Mariska closes her journey with and what Tracee opens hers with.

I do hope everyone has an enjoyable summer in these final few weeks of EBT B'way. (Please keep cool, as there is a heatwave coming to NYC. Maybe y'all can read one of the books pulled to beat the heat😉.)

As always, the link to the sheets: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1-QAkBNluE7rsUhzm3opOIE4tAjI8VR7O2udloGt0ODw/edit?usp=sharing

(And please do not hesitate to comment on your books below if you have trouble accessing the spreadsheet.👇🏻 I'll be happy enough to write it in for you if need be.)
