Bullet Train, Koyoto to Tokyo, should I pay to have my luggage sent from Kyoto to Tokyo before I take the Bullet or just carry it?

I have a trip to Japan planned this August, and I am trying to figure out some logistics. My friend is considering dropping off our luggage at a 7/11 and having it sent to our hotel in Tokyo. It will cost us about $50 USD per bag (from what we can see online), but we have to drop our bags off 2 days before we check into our hotel in Tokyo.

For anyone who has used this service or knows the ins and outs of Japan, is this worth paying for, and is it safe and reliable? I know it's Japan, but I worry (first international trip). Or would it be better to pay for luggage storage on the bullet train and carry it to our hotel?

For additional context, our hotel in Tokyo is near Shibuya Station, which I've heard is... very "fun" to navigate. We will be heading to Tokyo on a Friday. We will probably have 2-3 suitcases and carry-on bags.

( Would also love any advice or must-sees; will be going to Osaka (2 days), Kyoto (2 days), and Tokyo(6 days). But day 1 of Osaka will be USJ )
