TDS MONTHLY CHARGES $151.99 ONLY USE INTERNET 1 GBPS
When I first moved into my current home, TDS was the only high-speed internet provider available. I don't remember my bill being anywhere near as expensive as it is now. For years I just paid it because the service was reliable and I didn't have many outages.
As my bill kept increasing, I called several times over the years to ask about it. Each time I was told that my current package was actually cheaper than paying for 1 Gbps internet by itself. Because of that, I've also been paying for a home phone line that I don't use and a router rental.
Recently, Comcast came to my door and offered 1 Gbps internet for $60/month, so I scheduled an installation for later this week.
Before switching, I called TDS one last time to ask why my bill was so high. I never mentioned that I was planning to leave or that I had an offer from Comcast. The representative immediately told me I was paying too much and changed my monthly price to $93 for the exact same service I already have. They said I still have to pay this month's bill of $188, and that future bills should be around $93 (they also mentioned the highest bill I'd see would be around $106, although I wasn't clear why).
I then asked if there was any way to receive a credit or reimbursement since I've apparently been overpaying for months or possibly years for the exact same service. They basically said no.
Has anyone had success getting money back in a situation like this? Is there any way to push for credits or a refund, or is this just one of those situations where I should switch providers and never look back?
