Heat cycle when??

Hello everyone! I’ve posted on here before asking for advice and color selections for my ACD puppy I was picking up in July. After she passed, we decided on taking in one of her sisters and all has been well so far (still miss the baby I was supposed to get, but she’ll forever have a place in my home). I haven’t had a female dog since I was about 7, and I’m turning 24, and even then she didn’t make it past puppy stage because she was given to us with parvo.
Now that I’m finally so close to picking my girl up, one thought came to mind that I had completely forgotten about. When do females typically get their first heat cycle???😅 I’ve never gone through this before, and I want to be as prepared as possible.
And what about spaying?? When does that usually happen, or when is it best to? Before or after their first cycle? I’ve been starting my research seeing as I remembered so late and am picking her up on the 3rd, but I would really appreciate some help here too. We’re still looking for a vet we trust enough to start taking her to, and I don’t want to wait so long before we can start asking them questions.
