run to the local internet cafe, paying by the hour just to get a taste of the online world. The smell of those dusty computers and the sound of the loud cooling fans are forever unlocked in my memory.

I was just an innocent, naive teenager with a massive dream. I genuinely believed that if I sent enough random friend requests, I would somehow charm a beautiful blonde girl from the other side of the world and she would become my girlfriend. 😂 I would spend half my rented hour just refreshing my notifications, hoping for that 'Accept' button to light up.

When I wasn't busy hunting for love, I was obsessively checking the profile pages of celebrities, thinking their status updates were a personal window into their lives. If the internet connection cut off midway through a page load—which happened a lot—I would literally stare at a half-loaded profile picture until my hour was up.

Looking back, it was cringy, but those were the most innocent and exciting days of the internet. No algorithms, no corporate drama, just pure curiosity.

What about you guys? What’s your funniest or most embarrassing memory from your early social media days?

In honor of World Social Media Day, I wanted to share the story of my very first Facebook account from the early days.
