St Regis Punta Mita Review with Toddler (vs Four Seasons)

Currently on our second trip to Punta Mita with our toddler. We previously stayed at the Four Seasons, and this time decided to give the St Regis a spin on points. I know there’s some other parents lurking this sub— hopefully this helps!

Service - SR has been way more attentive. The complimentary butler/concierge service is so helpful. They unpacked us and set up the toddler blowup bed, hung everything up and put away clothes in drawers while we were at the pool! Also it’s been super nice to have a team that knows the toddler schedule: they clean our room before toddler nap time, and do turndown service before 7pm. Super clutch. They also decorated our room for our baby moon and gave gifts to our toddler, and had a pregnancy pillow ready. We found the 4S to be super laggy and constantly having to remind them to come at certain times.

Room - As others have mentioned, the SR feels like it’s very empty compared to the 4S, which is bad in some ways but also means we got upgraded! I didn’t think a more spacious room existed after the 4S, but this one is insane. Big patio, biiiiig closet, bathroom with huge tub + shower *and* an extra outdoor shower.

Ok, now the not so good:

Food- This SR has one of the oddest restaurant schedules I’ve ever experienced. It’s like a constant guessing game of what restaurant on the property is open, which is *not* what you want with a hungry kid. If it’s Sunday, guess what? EVEN WEIRDER SCHEDULE. There’s also only one restaurant with AC, which is tough in the hotter months. To make it even more complicated one of the 4 restaurants is adults-only so there’s limited options all around. We loved the restaurants at the 4S and pool food was also always available. My toddler still talks about the sushi restaurant (unlike its off-limits counter part at SR, lol).

Pools- 4S wins hands down. The SR’s pools are in desperate need of an upgrade with tiles chipping and sharp edges. They’re definitely not up to par for the price. Also the towel service is GLACIAL, which I don’t understand. And the 4S just has towels out for grabs which is how it should be. We loved the 4S main pool even with the toddler with the occasional lay in the lazy river. The other pool side things like sporadic popsicles and ice cream and smoothies were also always available big hit.

Overall vibe - there were so many more families and people in general at the 4S and this is where we return if we came back to Punta Mita. I love the service at the SR, but the food experience alone here is too much to navigate. The vibe at the 4S was just better!

Happy travels to all the toddler parents out there.
