How do you cross-reference satellite, radar, and station observation data when they don't share a common time/spatial resolution?
Pulling together satellite, radar, and station data for the same event sounds simple until you actually try to line them up.
I've pulled together satellite, radar, and station data for the same event a few times now, and the resolution mismatch is honestly the main thing I run into. Satellite gives you wide coverage but the temporal resolution is coarse. Station data is precise but it's just one point, not spatially continuous. Radar is somewhere in between depending on range and elevation angle. Getting these three to actually agree on the same event and same time window ends up being most of the actual work, the analysis part comes after that's sorted.
Is this just an accepted cost of working with heterogeneous obs data, or have people found workflows that handle the alignment step well? I'm curious whether this is mostly solved at the tooling level now or still mostly manual reconciliation depending on the project.
