What made air combat over the Eastern Front especially low altitude compared to Western Europe?
I have been getting back into WW2 aircraft and as it always were I always hear about the lower altitude conditions of the Eastern Front. I finally asked why? Was it because there were no heavy bomber campaigns against cities? And also, was this unique to the EF or did the Pacific and say North Africa see similar conditions?
