Seeking Opinon Substack: AI Art Greenwashing by UN

Hello everyone! I am an artist who wants to do more articles focused on art and the environment. I am writing an article about an art piece created by Refik Anadol, which was exhibited at UN Headquarters, that leverages artificial intelligence (AI) to raise awareness of the beauty and fragility of the world’s coral reefs and the urgent need to address the climate crisis.

I think that this art piece is greenwashing. The UN defines greenwashing as misleading the public to believe that a company or other entity is doing more to protect the environment than it is; greenwashing promotes false solutions to the climate crisis that distract from and delay concrete and credible action. I believe that this art piece is contributing to that.
