Time is meaningless.
Idk if this is the right place to post this, but recently ive been feeling like im stuck in 2016, and i just realized why. it was the last time i was happy. 2016, 10 whole years ago i bought my first house with my brother. He OD’d in 2018 for the last time. I lived with a heroin/fent addict for 4 miserable years, and then it got worse after he passed. I finally feel like for the first time in a decade my mental health is starting to improve, im understanding myself better, seeing things clearer, and yet im struggling with time. I cant get over how expensive everything is these days, other than inflation i feel like im just stuck in 2016. Houses that would be $200,000 in my area are now $500,000+, a new base model truck is $45,000, any time you get food its at least $20, i make $100,000/year, and i actually cant afford a house in my area, and it just seems so ridiculous to me because for some reason i cant get past 2016. Idk if my subconscious just locked me out for the last 10 years as a trauma response or what, but it feels like i was on autopilot and ive just taken the controls again. A whole decade has gone by, yet i hardly remember it, i dont feel older, yet i constantly have these reminders (memories on facebook of pets, or how old my favorite songs are… stuff like that) of how much time has passed, and the world just keeps going. Time doesnt stop, but i feel like ive stopped. Its not a bad feeling, its not great either, idk its just weird. So much time has passed in my life, and i havent really accomplished much, and i feel a sense of urgency, but really why does it matter?
