Just Received a Bad Evaluation and Feeling Discouraged
Hi everyone, as the caption says, I just received a pretty bad evaluation 3 months in to my orientation on an L&D unit and I'm feeling discouraged. I had been thrown around with a bunch of different preceptors for the past month and a half and I feel like it regressed my progress (having to prove in 12 hrs what I can actually do to a stranger each day instead of building on the skills I have at times). Before I went into it she asked how it was going and I expressed this viewpoint and let her know I'd like a consistent preceptor which she said she could do. Then she told me I am not where I need to be and told me a doctor complained about me because I didn't catch something last week. Granted, it was my fault and had been having a bad day that day which I shouldn't have let affect my mental state that day. It also hadn't helped that I just came back from being gone for 3 weeks. She told me I have a difficult time discerning an emergency vs not too, and it just makes me very scared I'm going to be fired before my orientation ends. Some of the complaints were valid and I know how to fix them, but others I am not sure about if I can turn it around, she said I need to impress her this next month and it's a lot of pressure. This is my dream job and I thought I was progressing pretty decently, so I feel very scared right now. Any tips would be appreciated.
