Why is there a loneliness epidemic (not gender specific)?

So this question is general loneliness and how it's displayed across gendered, not a specific "men lonely" post.

So I have my own thought about the "male loneliness crisis". It's something I have myself experienced kinda.

Like I didn't make good friends till college, didn't have a girlfriend until then either. So I was lonely on both fronts.

But men do it a lot to themselves, like I did. Guys don't really get into deep emotional stuff with each other. There isn't much physical touching etc. Guys play a big part in it cause we're afraid of being perceived as gay and expect women to fix it which leads to weird shit like guys dumping out emotions out on girlfriends and girls who are friends.

And with how the manosphere has poisoned a lot of mens minds with its bullshit, it's no wonder guys are more lonely.

But it's not like women aren't also real lonely. The first incel was a woman, and women have also reported lots of loneliness. And it's not like they have their own pink pill movement where women's mind are poisoned. Like political lesbianism isn't making a comeback. This is despite a lot more physical touch and supposedly closer cliqs.

So what gives? What changed about society that didn't used to be a thing?

I don't believe it's social media specifically. That feels like a crutch answer of technically correct but not quite right. I feel like it's a way the symptoms are manifesting as it were.

I also don't want this to be a "past better kinda thing" with Luddite leanings.

What do you think gives?
