My favorite part about BG3
I’m almost wrapped up with my first playthrough. No prior dnd experience or anything like that. Just played on balanced difficulty. Some concepts of the games were ok to grasp, not stellar. Some youtube videos were needed for me to kinda get the basics of what was going on.
The idea of things like “concentration” were foreign to me and I don’t think I fully grasped things like that until Act 2 weirdly enough.
But I will say that now i’m getting more comfortable with it and i’m starting to get into a place of understanding where I can freely think and “build” my character and party on my own without the use of any guides and that lightbulb moment really has me wanting more and having me excited to take on tactician difficulty as soon as I am done.
And that has been my favorite part of the game.
Even dabbled with multi classing a little bit, not sure if it was optimal but the idea of dipping into fighter (with defense) with my life cleric shadowheart strictly so she could get heavy armor was super neat for me to piece together on my own. Is it optimal? I have no idea, but the idea of just having an absolute tank of a healer has proved valuable to me in my first play through, can’t wait to see other ideas and combinations that I can learn or figure out.
I am a completely noob still so I will say that I did struggle at certain points with balanced difficulty (Raphael fight, House of Grief proved very challenging and needed a few attempts). Has me a little nervous for tactician in all honesty but man the amount of things that you can do in this game is wonderful. Theorycrafting builds, lore, RP, combat, etc is amazing. There truly does feel like there’s something for everyone.
