Trey Talks Tennis' 2026 Wimbledon Prematch Analysis // Men's Singles // Day 2 6.30.26

Stats/Analysis

Hi Everyone!
I'm Trey and I run Trey Talks Tennis!

Day 1 was a success with some great tennis.
Goal is for my writeups to provide greater insight into these players, matches, and what to expect!

Matches at Wimbledon tend to be a bit tougher to predict. The small sample size of grass tournaments plus the unique conditions of the surface creates heightened volatility. Expect some funky outcomes as a lot of players struggle to adapt their game.

Either way, Grand Slam are a different beast and are a ton of fun to follow.

I'll be posting my prematch analysis all the way until the finals, time permitting! Might miss a day or so due to IRL responsibilities. We'll do our best.

To see more of my stuff, feel free to follow on any social media or join my discord, all for free :)

Current Reddit record through Qualifying: 87W-64L. Yesterday we went 29W-23L.

Let's get to it!

Mpetshi Perricard – Hanfmann 3AM
Servebot on grass is a difficult matchup for any player. Mpetshi Perricard hasn’t looked good in 2026 but is relatively form-proof on grass. Expect short points and some tiebreaks. Hanfmann has impressed by solidifying himself as an ATP pro late in his career. He plays well across all surfaces as his game is balanced and reliable. The former college player out of USC is always undervalued and shouldn’t be dismissed here. Mpetshi Perricard is the favorite given how conducive the conditions are to his playing style. Expect this match to have a few tiebreaks which could go either way. Hanfmann leads the H2H 1-0 from a hard court match a few years back.
Prediction: Mpetshi Perricard 3-2
Trey’s Pick: O 45 G, O 3.5 Sets

Tabilo – Majchrzak 3AM
Tabilo has proven that he can win across all surfaces. His 2025 was marred by injuries and personal matters which forced him to miss the entirety of the grass season. In 2026, he lost both matches played against beatable competition. Majchrzak has revived his career after a suspension and has ascended to a personal career high. He won his debut ATP title on grass at Hertogenbosch, reflecting his strong form and abilities on the surface entering this tournament. In my opinion, this is likely his career peak. I see the title as more of an outlier than an outcome that could potentially elevate his career and level to new heights. He isn’t an unknown commodity. Majchrzak is the firm favorite, but if Tabilo can elevate his level, this match could go either way. As such, I think strong value with Tabilo. Tabilo leads the H2H 2-0 with their recent encounter being at the French Open.
Prediction: Tabilo 3-2
Trey’s Pick: Tabilo ML, +1.5 Sets, O 39 G, O 3.5 Sets

Mannarino – Droguet 3AM
Mannarino is the cockroach of the ATP Tour. When this match is played, he’ll be 39 and just as lethal as any player in these conditions. Amongst the homogenous men’s scene, his playstyle is refreshing and effective under the right circumstances. He pairs a shortened backswing with flat groundstrokes to keep balls low to put pressure on opponents. He’s easy to root for, and I’m hopeful he can finally reach the elusive Grand Slam quarterfinal that has evaded him thus far in his lengthy career. Droguet is a player I’ve been bullish on coming up through the ITF and Challenger ranks. Good size and mobility, he has a balanced game that he pairs with calculated aggression. He’s begun his transition to the ATP ranks and should quickly ascend into the top 100. He had a solid leadup on Challenger grass, but Mannarino is a very tricky opponent here. Mannarino is the favorite with the line offering good value to both players depending on how you see it.
Prediction: Mannarino 3-2
Trey’s Pick: Mannarino ML, +1.5 Sets, -1.5 Sets

Royer – Wendelken 3AM
Royer has been in poor form in 2026 and heads into this match with no momentum. He’s only won 2 tour level matches this season after experiencing a breakout year in 2025. He played 1 match on grass during the leadup to Wimbledon, losing in straights. He has a balanced game that works across all surfaces, but in his current form he cannot be trusted. Whether it be confidence or lingering injuries, his play in recent months doesn’t inspire any belief that he can raise his game. Wendelken has transitioned to the Challenger Tour in 2026 and has experienced promising results. He’s best on hard courts and has played minimally across other surfaces. As an ascending Brit, he was given qualifying and main draw wildcard opportunities in the grass warmup tournaments and did well to gain experience on the surface against elevated competition. The results aren’t greatly impressive, but they do offer optimism that he can be competitive against the right opponents. With Royer’s poor form, he might just be that opponent. Royer is the slight favorite which offers solid value for Wendelken. I could see the match being a blowout or a battle won by either player. Tough to predict.
Prediction: Wendelken 3-1
Trey’s Pick: Wendelken ML

Shimabukuro – Faria 3AM
Very compelling R1 match. Shimabukuro has had a stellar grass season. For a player infrequently receiving opportunities to play on the main tour, winning 3 main draw matches is a great result. His game naturally lends to fast conditions. Flat groundstrokes, shorter backswings, assertive shotmaking. I’ve been a fan of his for a long while and am happy to see him break into the top 100. Faria had a great French Open run and parlayed that into a strong grass swing. He’s primarily found his success on clay but has a balanced game that works across other surfaces. He’s very solid and plays to his high floor. Shimabukuro is the better player in these conditions, but Faria could steal this. I expect a battle that should be fun to watch. Odds are near even.
Prediction: Shimabukuro 3-2
Trey’s Pick: Shimabukuro ML, +1.5 Sets, -1.5 Sets

Arnaldi – Halys 4:30AM
Arnaldi’s career seemed to be in freefall until he caught fire in May that culminated in a run to the French Open semis. Prior to that stretch, he hadn’t won back-to-back tour level matches since July 2025. Even with the momentum of the biggest results of his career, it's incredibly difficult to carry that across multiple weeks, tournaments, and surfaces. On grass, Arnaldi’s done very little throughout his career. His best result was making it through Wimbledon qualifiers in 2023. He had a limited leadup to this tournament where he won 2 matches to qualify for Eastbourne prior to losing in the opening round. Halys is a power hitter that relies on his serve and forehand to dictate points. His 2026 has been uneventful, doing enough to sit around the top 100. He’s the better grass player in this matchup as his playing style is more conducive to the surface. In the tournaments leading up to Wimbledon, he lost 3 matches and won 1. Important to note that the 3 losses were against strong grass opponents. Odds are even which makes Halys the excellent value play. Arnaldi will be overvalued due to his deep run at the French Open which shouldn’t be too significant of a variable given the change of surfaces. I expect Halys to control this match. H2H is 1-0 Halys from an ATP qualifier on clay a few months back. Different surface but shows Halys can win this matchup in less than favorable conditions.
Prediction: Halys 3-0
Trey’s Pick: Halys ML, -1.5 Sets, -2.5 Sets, +1.5 Sets, +2.5 Sets

Burruchaga – De Minaur 4:30AM
Burruchaga is a South American clay courter who debuted in the top 100 in 2026. He’s primarily been a Challenger player who is now getting more opportunities on the ATP Tour given his ranking improvement. He’s inexperienced on grass and his game isn’t naturally conducive to the surface. De Minaur had his best season in 2025 and has been solid in 2026. He's a very strong player on grass and is the overwhelming favorite in this match. In these conditions, I struggle to see De Minaur even dropping a set. He’s a dark horse pick of mine to go deep in the tournament should some chaos happen to the rest of the draw.
Prediction: De Minaur 3-0
Trey’s Pick: U 30 G

Fery – Dzumhur 4:30AM
Fery is another college player out of Stanford. A Wimbledon local, he’s shown that he’s comfortable on grass and plays well on fast surfaces. Now fully committed to pro tennis, Fery is on the verge of breaking into the top 100. He’s undersized, but his game just exudes quality. I’ve been very bullish of him for a few years now and will continue to be. Dzumhur is a perennial underdog. He’s a gritty fighter. He’s revived his career via Challenger clay but has struggled in 2026. He’s exited the top 100 and is in danger of falling further should he not find some form. On grass, that’s even more unlikely. He’s surprisingly won an ATP title on grass in 2018, but it's safe to view that as an outlier given his performance on the surface throughout the rest of his career. He had a decent leadup to this tournament, winning 2 matches in Mallorca. Fery starts as the heavy favorite given his abilities in these conditions and the contrasting career trajectories of both players. Agree that Fery should win but odds are a bit too steep.
Prediction: Fery 3-0
Trey’s Pick: Fery ML, -1.5 Sets, -2.5 Sets, U 35.5 G

Humbert – Bergs 4:30AM
A rematch from the title fight at Eastbourne that happened over the weekend. Humbert has been a staple in the top 50 for nearly all of the 2020s. He’s dealt with some injuries over the last year but is still a dangerous player in fast conditions. Indoor hard courts and grass are his bread and butter. He ended up losing the title match in Eastbourne which only makes this match more compelling. Always tricky to play an opponent back-to-back. Bergs has had a strong season in 2026. He’s done well to develop his game to secure meaningful results across different surfaces. His W/L is near even, but he’s looked impressive even in matches that he’s lost. He was undeniably impressive in his win against Humbert a few days ago. Over 5 sets, I think Humbert will just be too good in these conditions.
Prediction: Humbert 3-1
Trey’s Pick: O 40 G, O 3.5 Sets

Jacquet – Gaubas 4:30AM
Jacquet has looked good when healthy in 2026. Injuries have slowed his progression, but he finally appears fit and in strong form. He’s an aggressive player who dictates rallies. He hasn’t played many matches on grass in his career but has looked solid over the last few weeks. He advanced through qualifiers without dropping a set and should be optimistic about this matchup. Gaubas is a clay courter who impressed by advancing through qualifiers. His 2026 has been underwhelming as he’s elected to play more ATP qualifiers instead of Challengers and has failed to capitalize on these opportunities. His game isn’t as pigeonholed to clay as you’d think by looking at his career statistics. He has to the game to develop on other surfaces; he simply just hasn’t played many matches on grass or hard courts. Credit to Gaubas for making it this far, it gets tougher here though. Jacquet is the favorite and I think he is marginally undervalued. In a BO5 format, I think Jacquet’s too good here. Jacquet leads the H2H 2-0 with 1-0 on grass from Wimbledon qualifiers 2025. Meaningful data point.
Prediction: Jacquet 3-0
Trey’s Pick: Jacquet ML, -1.5 Sets

Kokkinakis – Bublik 4:30AM
Bublik is my dark horse pick to win the tournament. Ambitious? Absolutely. His resurgent 2025 showcased his ability when finally paired that with a committed focus and motivation. He won a title in the opening week of the season and has since tapered off. He’s one of those players that doesn’t need a buildup of form to explode for a big tournament. He hasn’t looked convincing in the grass warmup tournaments, but that doesn’t concern me. He can be elite in these condtions and I expect a big run by Bublik. Kokkinakis has been riddled by injuries which has seen his career sidelined for extended periods. He’s a big hitter and possesses natural weapons that can trouble the top players when they’re firing. Unfortunately, he might be a case of being too powerful for his body. At this point in his career, it's reasonable to question if he can sustain his health over multiple matches, let alone 5 sets. Kokkinakis leads the H2H 1-0 from a distant match on hard courts. Bublik is the heavy favorite and contrary to all the hype I delivered above, any outcome is possible in a Bublik match.
Prediction: Bublik 3-1
Trey’s Pick: Bublik ML

Svajda – Llamas Ruiz 4:30AM
Had my writeup completed for Bellucci – Svajda before Bellucci had to withdraw due to a practice injury. Big bummer. Was really looking forward to that match. Svajda had a surprising French Open run. Up until that point, he had shown next to nothing on clay throughout his career. In 2025, he won 14 matches on grass. Few players even play that many matches on grass in a year or two. Svajda’s height doesn’t give him any advantage on serve, but his shortened backswing allows him to take balls early and redirect them with ease. His 2026 grass season has been underwhelming, having won 2 and lost 3 matches. To me, that may be the clear difference of playing Challengers in 2025 and ATP matches in 2026. Llamas Ruiz has been healthy in 2026 and the results reflect that. He’s a big talent that is a real threat on clay and is developing on other surfaces. He enters as the lucky loser but will be at a significant disadvantage in this match. Svajda is more comfortable in these conditions and should expect to roll without much issue. Svajda is the firm favorite, and I think those odds are fair as he should win in 3 or 4 sets.
Prediction: Svajda 3-1
Trey’s Pick: Svajda ML

Michelsen – Fearnley 4:30AM
Fearnley is another British TCU product. He’s best on fast surfaces but has struggled to fully transition to the ATP Tour. He had a stellar 2024 but has since struggled to keep any positive form. 2026 has only gotten worse as he has a negative W/L on the year. He’s looked good in the warmup grass Challenger events and is capable of doing damage in these conditions. Michelsen has had a decent season but has surprisingly elected to forego any grass warmup tournaments prior to Wimbledon. His game naturally works on the surface and has achieved meaningful results in past years. As such, reasonable to assume he may be nursing an injury back to health and chose to prioritize being fully fit for Wimbledon. Michelsen is the slight favorite and without any matches to establish form on grass, I too see this match near even.
Prediction: Fearnley 3-2
Trey’s Pick: Fearnley +1.5 Sets, +2.5 Sets, O 38.5 G, O 3.5 Sets

Shelton – Virtanen 4:30AM
Tough draw for Virtanen. He’s excellent on fast courts and is a real danger in these conditions. He’s tall and powerful and almost plays bigger than his size. He had a strong grass swing in 2025 before tearing his meniscus which forced him to miss last year’s Wimbledon. Drawing Shelton in R1 this year is a bummer as he could have won a few rounds had he been given a more favorable draw. Shelton is a known commodity at this point. The world #5 has won an ATP title on each surface in 2026 with the most recent being on grass at Stuttgart. His climb in the rankings is reflective of the work he’s put in to refine his game and elevate his top-end level. This will be a servefest but Shelton will have the definitive advantage in the few rallies that occur. Shelton is the heavy favorite, but odds do give Virtanen respect. Expect some tiebreaks. Wouldn’t shock me for Virtanen to steal 1 or 2.
Prediction: Shelton 3-1
Trey’s Pick: Skip

Blockx – Zverev 5AM
Blockx has had a great year in 2026, seeing him enter the top 100 and break into the top 50. His momentum came to a screeching halt as a practice injury at the French Open saw him withdraw and not play a match since. He’s been solid on grass thus far in his young career, but the state of his ankle is the million-dollar question. Having not played any matches leading up to this tournament, his health and fitness are real concerns. Zverev won the French Open and got the monkey off his back. A lot will be made by the media of how he does in the first slam after his victory. For a player of his caliber, he has yet to win a pro title on grass. He only played Halle leading up to this tournament and was predictably beaten by Fritz. Zverev leads the H2H 2-0 against Blockx with both matches won in straight sets on clay from when Blockx was in excellent form a few months back. Given the questions surrounding his ankle, tough to expect a different outcome here. Odds too steep, little value here.
Prediction: Zverev 3-0
Trey’s Pick: Skip

Diallo – Bonzi 5AM
Diallo is a former college player out of the U of Kentucky. His 2026 has been plagued by injuries, resulting in a poor W/L on the season. He has big weapons that translate well to faster conditions. He won 2 matches last week in Eastbourne that should provide him some confidence and momentum heading into this match. Even as grass isn’t as taxing as other surfaces, real concern that his body can hold up across 5 sets. As the temperatures are expected to be very hot, only further emphasizes this concern throughout the week. Bonzi is a player I've always been favorable of. He’s a solid pro but lacks the high-end ability to consistently challenger even established ATP pros. He’s prone to hot and cold stretches but appears to be in decent form entering the tournament. He’s strong on fast courts and won 6 matches on grass leading up to this tournament. Diallo leads the H2H 1-0 from a hard court match in 2025. Diallo is the favorite given his ceiling but he carries significant red flags. Those red flags are enough to scare me off and be comfortable with the decent value of Bonzi as an underdog.
Prediction: Bonzi 3-1
Trey’s Pick: Bonzi ML, +1.5 Sets, +2.5 Sets

Munar – F. Cerundolo 5AM
Cerundolo has had an interesting year. High highs, low lows. He’s won 2 titles with the recent win surprisingly being on grass. The former U of South Carolina product has a balanced game that he’s proven can work across all surfaces. Abstract of those titles, the volatility of his game does offer reasonable concern. Even so, he should be able to navigate the match without much issue. Munar is best on clay but had his best season of his career in 2025 via success on hard courts. He’s undersized but relies on a solid balanced game. He’s pulled off a few upsets at Wimbledon in previous seasons and must be respected. Cerundolo is the heavy favorite which limits value. I don’t want any part of this match. Cerundolo leads the H2H 4-2 with all matches on hard or clay courts.
Prediction: Cerundolo 3-1
Trey’s Pick: Skip

Khachanov – Harris 5:30AM
Khachanov has been a staple inside the top 30 for the better part of the last 10 years. He’s big and powerful and possesses the game to challenge most players on the ATP Tour. He’s consistent and often beats most players below his ranking but rarely plays at the top of his ceiling to even offer much trouble to the true elites. Given his size and playstyle, he’s done well on grass throughout his career. He reached the Quarterfinals last year and that result should provide some confidence heading into this tournament. Harris is a grass court specialist. As his 2026 has been poor leading up to this tournament, he will have a lot of pressure to win a round or two here. He wasn’t given a wildcard and had to earn his way through the qualifiers. Case to be made that it might help him to create some much-needed rhythm and belief in the main draw. Don’t expect Harris to be able to do much on Khachanov’s serve. He’ll likely be playing for tiebreaks and hoping to have a few critical points go his way. I always pull for the grass court players during the grass season, but so often their niche advantages are outweighed by the pure talent of most ATP level players. This is likely to be one of those occurrences. Khachanov is the firm favorite as a result. Critical Harris wins the opening set. If he doesn’t, might snowball.
Prediction: Khachanov 3-1
Trey’s Pick: O 37.5 G

Fils – Collignon 6:30AM
Fils is an elite talent that has been consistently hindered by injuries. Having been forced to miss the French Open, his only matches played since then were exhibitions last week. At this point, any matches completed without reaggravated injuries are a success for Fils. He’s only been able to play a handful of matches on his grass but has looked solid thus far. His fitness is the biggest question entering this match. His talent is high enough that he can win matches against quality competition without any form. Collignon is having a strong year in 2026, seeing his ranking improve into the top 50. Injuries have also forced Collignon to miss extended time throughout his career, but he’s looked healthy this season. His strong 2026 W/L has mainly been at the Challenger level but still against strong competition. Solid leadup to this tournament having won 4 matches at Halle. Prior to that tournament, he had only won 1 match on grass in his career. Fils starts as the slight favorite given the concerns around his health and fitness. Tough match to predict without knowing what Fils we’re going to get. Collignon is undervalued in my eyes.
Prediction: Collignon 3-1
Trey’s Pick: Collignon ML, +1.5 Sets

Kypson – McDonald 6:30AM
Kypson played 1 season at Texas A&M before opting to turn pro. Since then, he’s been a strong player on the Challenger Tour. In 2025, he won 4 Challenger titles and looked impressive on indoor hard courts. That success granted him new opportunities to enter the qualifiers for many ATP tournaments. He’s failed to capitalize on these opportunities, winning just 1 main draw ATP match. As such, he’s stuck in limbo between the ATP and Challenger Tours. On grass, he’s inexperienced and has played few matches as a pro. His game should translate well to these conditions but without important matchplay, many players struggle to do so and that’ll likely be that case here to an extent. McDonald is an experienced veteran out of UCLA. He’s bounced around the ATP and Challenger Tours throughout his career. He’s been impacted by injuries in recent seasons, which has seen his ranking decline. He’s a strong player on grass and is comfortable in these conditions. Even with his poor form during 2026, advancing through the qualifiers isn’t a shock. He’s crafty on the surface and will lean on his experience. McDonald is the firm favorite, but Kypson has the weapons to earn some traction within the match. I'd go as far to say that Kypson is undervalued and expect this to be a closer match than the odds would indicate. Definitely a flier, but great value for Kypson.
Prediction: Kypson 3-2
Trey’s Pick: Kypson ML, +1.5 Sets, +2.5 Sets

Mensik – Samuel 6:30AM
Mensik had a great run at the French Open, reaching the semis on the surface least conducive to his playstyle. He’s an elite talent that is still developing, and that applies to his level on grass as well. Fitness has been a concern throughout his young career, but he looks healthy entering this match. He’s one of the few players truly capable of winning the entire tournament if things fall into place. Samuel is a former college player via the U of South Carolina. He’s tall and relies on a powerful serve and forehand. As an ascending Brit, he was given opportunities in the grass warmups leading up to Wimbledon and impressed with a few quality wins. Add in a Wimbledon main draw wildcard, he’s gaining great experience on the ATP Tour. Expect him to further improve his ranking in subsequent months. Mensik is the firm favorite, and I’d say is undervalued. With both players’ serves, expect some tiebreaks. If Mensik stays fit throughout the match, he should be able win without much issue.
Prediction: Mensik 3-0
Trey’s Pick: Mensik ML, -1.5 Sets, -2.5 Sets

Giron – Moutet 6:30AM
Giron has been a mainstay in the top 100 through the 2020s. He has a balanced game that plays best across hard and grass courts. He’s struggled to find traction in 2026, but effort and motivation will never be a concern. Can’t be said for Moutet. A certified tennis bad boy, he’s recently been in the news for a fun little interview. Apart from that, his tennis itself definitively has not been in the news. He’s done next to nothing in 2026 and will need to turn it up to keep his standing in the top 50. He’s shown he can play well on grass but has only won one match leading up to this tournament. Moutet is the more talented player, but Giron is the harder worker and is more reliable. The natural volatility of any Moutet match makes this tricky. Giron starts as the slight favorite with either player being capable of winning. The H2H is 1-1 with their most recent match being won by Giron in March on hard courts. Any outcome is on the table here.
Prediction: Giron 3-1
Trey’s Pick: O 3.5 Sets

Etcheverry – Sonego 6:30AM
Sonego has had a rough season in 2026 having dealt with lingering injuries. His play has been notably impacted as he’s failed to win many matches over the few that he’s played. He’s proven that he can win on grass and should be respected in these conditions. His grass swing leading up to this tournament was underwhelming with the best result simply being the quantity of matches played. Etcheverry has had a seemingly quiet year but has won an ATP title on clay. His game works well across all surfaces given his natural size and power. He’s struggled to make any impact on grass thus far in his career and that hasn’t changed during the grass warmup tournaments in 2026. Big opportunity for both players. Sonego is the slight favorite given his past record on grass. Tough to gauge.
Prediction: Sonego 3-1
Trey’s Pick: Sonego ML

Fritz – Lajovic 7AM
Fritz will surely be relieved with Draper backing out due to injury. Fritz has dealt with some injuries in 2026 but had a solid warmup swing entering the tournament. Lethal in these conditions, he should roll with ease. Lajovic enters as the lucky loser. He’s best on clay but is experienced on all surfaces. The veteran has begun to regress as reflected by his decline in ranking. He’s incredibly solid with few glaring weaknesses to his game. On grass, against Fritz, he won’t have enough firepower. Fritz leads the H2H 2-0. Fritz is the heavy favorite and should win in straight sets.
Prediction: Frtiz 3-0
Trey’s Pick: Fritz –2.5 Sets, U 36.5 G

Sweeny – Dimitrov 7:30AM
Fun match. Sweeny is a fun player to follow and is very likable. Undersized, his game revolves around his speed and quickness to track down a ton of balls. On grass, he’s adapted his game well to shorten his backswing to redirect balls. He’s proven to be comfortable in these conditions. He had a solid leadup to the tournament on Challenger grass culminating in him securing entry via the qualifiers. Dimitrov has been dismal in 2026. His play has been so poor that its warranted questions regarding his retirement. His ranking has collapsed outside the top 100 and is dangerous of further regression. Even so, he’s immensely experienced, skilled, and crafty. He has been strong on grass throughout his career and picked up some desperately needed wins leading up to this tournament. Will those be enough to steady the ship? Tough to say. Dimitrov is the huge favorite but is overvalued given his glaring red flags entering this match. Sweeny is always undervalued and that’s true here. Great value.
Prediction: Sweeny 3-2
Trey’s Pick: Sweeny ML, +1.5 Sets, +2.5 Sets, O 3.5 Sets

Griekspoor – Duckworth 8AM
Griekspoor pulled his hamstring earlier in the year and has struggled to do much since. He’s looked compromised, and his W/L record reflects that. Throughout his career, he’s been a strong player on grass. His leadup to this tournament looked to be impacted by his poor form, fitness, and or confidence as he only won 1 match on grass. I’d be very hesitant to buy much Griekspoor stock until he shows anything that inspires confidence. Duckworth is firmly in the top 100. He’s a Challenger level player as his game doesn’t possess the top end range to trouble most ATP Tour players. He’s best on fast surfaces but has struggled on grass leading up to this tournament. Griekspoor starts as the firm favorite and this match will be decided by his level. He will need to raise his level, or else Duckworth will make this a battle. Any outcome is possible here which makes this any easy skip for me.
Prediction: Duckworth 3-1
Trey’s Pick: O 3.5 Sets

Choinski – Kopriva 8AM
Both players are clay court Challenger players that have done well enough over the last year to justify direct entry into the grass Grand Slam. Kopriva has impressed in his limited opportunities on ATP clay and Choinski has won a ton on Challenger clay and was granted a wildcard. On grass, neither player has done much in their careers, but both had surprisingly solid warmup tournaments as they each won multiple ATP matches. Kopriva starts as the favorite due to the perception of his higher ranking, increased time spent on the ATP Tour, and having the bigger serve and forehand. Ultimately, this match could get very flukey and is tough to confidently pick. Big opportunity for both to steal a win. Choinski leads the H2H 2-1 with all coming on Challenger clay, not too relevant.
Prediction: Kopriva 3-1
Trey’s Pick: Skip

Lehecka – Popyrin 8AM
Lehecka has had a solid year, but fitness concerns are always present. He’s done well in 2026 to play a full slate and has seen his ranking ascend near the top 10 as a result. He lost at both the Aussie and French Opens in R1 and will be desperate for a good showing here. He’s shown to be a strong player on grass in previous seasons and had a decent warmup to this tournament. Popyrin is in a terrible slump. He’s exited the top 100 and is in danger of falling further. Should he fail to achieve meaningful results in the immediate future, he may be relegated to the Challenger Tour. His talent is undeniable. He’s either lost all confidence and or has been fighting through lingering injuries. Either way, the impact on his level of play is clear. He’s losing frequently and often to opponents he should beat. Grass is a natural equalizer, but I struggle to harbor any belief that Popyrin can shake his current form. H2H is 1-1 from matches on hard courts. Lehecka is understandably the heavy favorite.
Prediction: Lehecka 3-0
Trey’s Pick: Skip

Altmaier – Molcan 8AM
Altmaier started the season in dreadful form before steadying the ship on clay. Surprising that his best result in 2026 on the ATP Tour came on grass at Halle. He followed that up with a retirement in Eastbourne which raises concerns over his fitness level entering this match. Players often are conservative with injuries in the week leading up to the Grand Slams, so without knowing the specific details, I’ll assume his play won’t be too impacted here. Either way, a notable variable. Molcan has earned his career revival by grinding away on ITF, Challenger, and now ATP Clay. He plays with a ton of effort and intensity that is visible in his play. His game works off of clay but has yet to do anything meaningful on grass thus far in his career. Tough match to predict. Altmaier is the slight favorite but this could go any direction. Molcan leads the H2H 1-0 from a clay encounter in April.
Prediction: Altmaier 3-2
Trey’s Pick: Skip

Cobolli – Navone 8AM
Cobolli enters Wimbledon off his finals run at the French Open. Important to understand that it's incredibly difficult for even the top players to sustain form across different tournaments and different surfaces. He failed to win a match in his only pro level match on grass leading up to this tournament. Last year, he made the Quarterfinals of Wimbledon, highlighting his abilities in these conditions. Navone is a South American clay courter whose game is incredibly vulnerable in fast conditions. He’s done well to better develop his game on hard courts, but on grass, he’s at a severe disadvantage. Cobolli is the heavy favorite and should cruise without issue. Cobolli leads the H2H 1-0 from a match on clay, not too relevant.
Prediction: Cobolli 3-0
Trey’s Pick: Cobolli ML, -1.5 Sets, -2.5 Sets

Tiafoe – Atmane 8AM
Atmane has struggled during his first season on the main tour following his breakout Cincinnati run. Injuries limited his availability through the end of the year, and he’s struggled to gain any meaningful traction since. He’s always been a streaky player even at the Challenger level. When he’s redlining, he’s an absolute force but struggles to consistently play at that level. On grass, he’s inexperienced with few wins on the surface throughout his career. He has big weapons that could excel in these conditions but is yet to adapt his game to translate to meaningful results. Tiafoe is fresh off a title in Halle and will enter with a load of confidence. He’s done well on grass throughout his career and could make some noise in the tournament should chaos fall in his favor. Tiafoe is the heavy favorite given his past results on the surface and Atmane’s poor form and inexperience on grass. Odds too steep, doesn’t justify the risk.
Prediction: Tiafoe 3-0
Trey’s Pick: Skip

Berrettini – Wawrinka 8:30AM
Stan was rightfully given a wildcard for his curtain call at Wimbledon. It’s historically been his weakest slam having only reached 2 Quarterfinals during his career. Even as his level has clearly regressed, his effort and passion haven’t. Tough to have any expectations past him hopefully being competitive. Berrettini has been riddled by injuries for years now. He returned just in time for the French Open and then, surprise, injuries forced him to quit in the Quarterfinals. Having not played a single match since, it is impossible to get a read on what his level may be entering this match. A former finalist in 2021, his abilities on grass at this tournament are undeniable when he’s healthy. He unfortunately rarely is. Berrettini is the heavy favorite, but the risk surrounding his fitness and health are undeniably great. Berrettini either rolls or his body breaks down and retires midmatch.
Prediction: Wawrinka 2-1(ret.)
Trey’s Pick: Skip
