Pay Float???

I made a 3k payment on the 23rd of June. It still has not been added to the available balance. It has cleared my bank and everything. When I inquired about it, I was told that I had to wait 7 days to see it post. Is this normal??? I was going to pay it off in a couple of days, but I don't have 5k to just toss out the door.
